Virtual University Need based Scholarship

Dear Students, Virtual University Need based Scholarship Spring 2017 Date has been Extended. Previously Last Date to apply was Friday March 31, 2017.As Per Latest Update Virtual University Need based Scholarship Spring 2017 Date has been extended to Friday March 24, 2017. If you are a deserving student and you are eligible to apply for need based scholarship, please apply at your earliest. 

The last date to apply for need based scholarship is Friday March 24, 2017 .

The University intends to provide scholarships to students:
  • Merit-based scholarship: to encourage healthy academic competition among students 
  • Need-based scholarship: to provide financial assistance to deserving students.

How to Apply for Virtual University Need based Scholarship

For Need based scholarships send email to needbase_scholarship@vu.edu.pk.

Need Base Scholarship Terms and Conditions

Scholarships shall comprise partial or full remission of the applicable tuition fee only; 
  • students shall have to pay all other dues,
  • Scholarships shall be valid for one semester only,
  • Scholarships may be awarded only to such students who:
  • are not in receipt of scholarship / financial assistance from any other source;
  • have not received exemption for any course(s).
  • In order to remain eligible for the scholarships, students must not have any repeat/fail course(s),
The scholarship shall be terminated if
  • the student withdraws / discontinues studies;
  • the student is convicted in any unfair means / disciplinary case.
  • Student whose scholarship has been terminated vide 8(e) (i) above will not be eligible for any further grant of scholarship during the same study program.

Scholarships shall be granted to local students only.
The number and amount of scholarships shall be determined each year by the Management Committee based on the amount allocated in the annual budget.
Award of Need Based scholarships to newly admitted students
Students intending to avail Need Based scholarships shall apply on the prescribed form at the time of filing the admission application.
Students who have obtained at least 60% marks OR minimum CGPA of 2.5 out of 4.0 OR minimum CGPA of 3.5 out of 5.0 (as applicable) shall be eligible for the award of a Need Based scholarship.

The University shall compile separate Merit Lists of the eligible applicants for each of its programs on the basis of the examination on which the admission was granted.
The top students on each Merit List shall be awarded Need Based scholarships subject to Clause 8 above.
In case of any tie in the determination of merit, the marks/CGPA obtained by the students in the examination preceding the one on which the merit list was created, shall be considered; any remaining tie will be resolved on the basis of dates of birth, with the youngest being given precedence.

Award of Need Based scholarships to continuing students
To be eligible for the award of scholarships
student must have accumulated an equal or higher number of credits as prescribed in the applicable scheme of study.
Students who are availing Need Based scholarships must achieve a minimum semester GPA of 2.25 while maintaining a CGPA of at least 2.50, failing which the scholarship shall stand withdrawn.
Such students whose scholarship has been withdrawn for not maintaining the required CGPA of 2.50 will become re-eligible for the scholarship upon achieving the required CGPA. However, the resumption of the scholarship shall be subject to the availability of funds.

Need based Scholarship Important Note:

  • Amount and number of scholarships are subject to availability of funds.
  • The decisions of the Management Committee will be deemed to be final.
  • These rules may be added to or modified as required from time to time.

What is a Factorial ?

The factorial of a number 'n' is the product of all number from 1 up-to the number 'n'

it is denoted by n!. For example n=5 then factorial of 5 will be 1*2*3*4*5= 120. 5!= 120

Factorial program in C++ Logic:


  • First think what is the factorial of a number? 
  • How mathematically it can be calculated?
  • If you understand it now then it will be very easier to make a C++ Program logic to find the factorial.
  • User enters a number and we have to multiply all numbers up-to entered number.
  • Like if user enters 6 then Factorial should be equal to factorial= 1*2*3*4*5*6.
  • In this case a for Loop will be very helpful. It will start from one and multiply all numbers up-to entered number after it loop will be terminated.
  • Take a variable and initialized it to 1 and in loop store multiplication result into it like in below program a variable 
  • Factorial is used for this purpose.what is we does not initialized it to 1 and initialized it to zero or remain it uninitialized. In case of 0 our result will be zero in case of any number entered
  • In case of not initializing it our answer will correct mostly but if variable contains garbage value then we will not be able to get correct result. 
  • It is recommended that to initialize it to one.

Once your request is duly processed, a confirmation email will be sent on your VU email from no-reply@vu.edu.pk.

How to Make a Assignment - Instructions

Please, follow the Given steps for making a Good Assignment.
  • Download the Assignment file from VULMS.
  • Read the instructions carefully and also check the format of file in which you have to submit the assignment. Like in ENG, MGT, PAK it is (.doc or .docx format) i.e. MS word default format. While for CS it is .html format. Make sure you are submitting the file of required format.(It may change according to the subjects better read the instructions carefully first).
  • Duplicate the assignment file by Copy, Paste. & If it is PDF file then make a new word file in .doc or .docx format or any other which is given in instruction .
  • Now open the duplicate file and edit it Or if new then make it according to the given steps.
  • While Editing first remove the Instruction from the top.
  • Now on Top add heading e.g. if it is English Assignment then write (ENG101 Fall 2016 Assignment 2 or CS101 Fall 2016 Assignment 2).
  • After adding the heading go down and on right or Left corner write your student ID followed by Date on other corner.
  • After completing all these steps now answer each question respectively. Write the answers under the Questions and make the questions bold so they can be easily recognized.
  • After completing the assignment Save It and rename it to your subject and assignment no. along with student ID. Like: ( ENG101 Assignment 1 Fall 2016 (BCxxxxxx).
  • Check it twice thrice after completion for any errors or corrections.
  • After checking if you are confident that it is correct submit it on VULMS. And Try to complete and submit it before due date. Because after due date no assignment will be accepted.

Let’s say we already have hundreds of question to solve in the examination and our mind creating questions after reading a question is not good. To handle this type of problem make a habit or train your brain in such a way that it asks the questions first after reading a particular MCQ rather than questions coming into your brain so, what are the questions you need to ask? First ask yourself just after reading the question which subject this question is from? Once you get the answer ask again which topic? Now after answering these two questions your brain will only look for answers from the topics of this subject only rather than throwing the stones in dark.

Method Of Elimination.

In all almost all objective type questions two options can be eliminated after reading the question. The approach is simple , read the question once then read all the four options carefully then pick out two options that can’t be answer of the question. If we eliminate two options we have to search for answer among the remaining two only.

Don’t See The Options Yet: 

In this approach first read the question carefully. Then without reading the options try to think of an answer. If a topic surround the questions comes into your mind in the very first moment after reading the question now, see the options and look for the option that matches with your mind picked answer/topic. These days objective questions and there options are designed in such a way that even if you have knowledge of that particular question after reading the all four options you will get confused. And this confusion will create question in your mind Do I really have studied this topic in-depth?

Let Me Fill The Blanks:

In this approach try to consider a particular question as a fill in the blank type question rather than a MCQ. Read the question carefully then virtually fill answer to this question in your brain. Here are Step by Step Instructions for How to Calculate Your CGPA. i will try to make it easy for you to understand.

Calculate Your CGPA Step # 1 

Determine the total number of credit hours you have attempted. For example, after two semesters you might have attempted 24 credit hours. This figure can be found on an official transcript from your school.

Calculate Your CGPA Step # 2 

Determine the total number of grade points you have earned. For example, you might have earned 72 grade points in two semesters. As with the number of credit hours attempted, this figure can be found on your school transcript.

Calculate Your CGPA Step # 3 

Enter the number of grade points earned and credit hours attempted into the CGPA formula: Grade points earned divided by credit hours attempted equals cumulative grade point average. Using the example figures, this would be: 72 grade points earned divided by 24 credit hours attempted equals cumulative grade point average.

    INSTRUCTIONS:
    1. Logon using your VULMS ID and Password
    (In case of any password related problem contact at password@vu.edu.pk)
    2. Choose Your Exam City in which you want to appear for Exam (optional)
    3. Choose your Exam Center out of the centers available to you
    (Once selected, you can’t change your Exam Center)
    4. Select available exam date and start time of your own choice for each of your courses, then click “Confirm” button to confirm your selection.
    5. Repeat the Step-4 for all your remaining courses one by one.
    6. Finally click the button at the bottom of the page to get Examination Password and print your Examination Slip which you MUST keep with you for entry in Examination Center on each of the Exam Dates.

    Today we will help you to understand the Diffrence Between CGPA AND EFFECTIVE CGPA in VU Final Term Exam Result.

    CGPA Stands for CUMULATIVE GRADE POINT AVERAGE

    There are two types of CGPA in VU
    Effective CGPA and the total CGPA

    Effective CGPA

    Effective CGPA is the total CGPA without counting failure courses (F grade subjects)

    CGPA

    CGPA = Sum(Credit Hrs for course X Grade Point obtained in the course) / Sum(credit Hrs)

    Cumulative grade point average (CGPA) is the weighted mean value of all grade points earned by enrollment or by examination in courses at VU.

    (Explanation: GPA and CGPA includes the number of credit hours at VU for a letter grade even if a grade of “F” was earned).

    Any improved grade will substitute “F” and “D” grades of the previous Semester for calculating CGPA but “F” and “D” grades will form part of the transcript.

    CGPA means included F grade and Effective CGPA not included F grade.

    What is  CGPA

    CGPA stands for cumulative grade point average. The CGPA is a figure that reflects the grade point average for all classes you have taken and for classes for which you have received credit by means such as testing at your school/College/University.

    School/College/university policies vary in the way they evaluate credit for courses transferred to your current school from another. Your university's registrar will have information about your university's policy.

    How to calculate your CGPA 


    you need to know the total number of grade points you have earned and the total number of credit hours you have attempted.The virtual university CGPA also follows the same pattern of calculation.

    Follow the below mentioned steps to calculate the CGPA:

    Step 1.
    Determine the total number of credit hours you have attempted. For example, after two semesters you might have attempted 24 credit hours. This figure can be found on an official transcript from your school.

    Step 2.
    Determine the total number of grade points you have earned. For example, you might have earned 72 grade points in two semesters. As with the number of credit hours attempted, this figure can be found on your school transcript.

    Step 3.
    Enter the number of grade points earned and credit hours attempted into the CGPA formula: Grade points earned divided by credit hours attempted equals cumulative grade point average. Using the example figures, this would be: 72 grade points earned divided by 24 credit hours attempted equals cumulative grade point average.

    Step 4.
    Apply the CGPA formula using the figures you have entered to calculate your CGPA. With the example figures, the CGPA is 3.0.

    CGPA=SUMMATION (summation)

    (OF NUMBER OF CREDITS OF THE ith course of the

    nth semester and grade points of the ith course of the nth semester) /summation (summation) number of credits of the ith course of the n th semester

    What is GPA?

    GPA is the ratio of the sum of the products of the number of credits of courses registered and the grade points corresponding to the grades scored in those courses, taken for all the courses, to the sum of the number of credits of all the courses in the semester.

    CGPA will be calculated in a similar manner, considering all the courses enrolled from first semester

    The CGPA does not form part of the student record for the Faculty of Medicine and most graduate studies programs.
