Is it necessary to form a group of two members in the project? No, it is not necessary, as any student can choose to do the project alone. In this case the student should not accept any group request on VULMS, and send no request to any other student. Is a student allowed to form group with any other VU student? Grouping is on students' end, a student can form a group with any BSCS/BSIT/BSSE/MCS/MIT student who is registered in same project. What is Group ID or Project ID? The terms 'Group ID' and 'Project ID' are same. It is a unique identifier for the students in the project. In case there are two members in a group, they will be assigned a single group id. If a student has chosen to do the project alone (i.e. without a group member), the student will still be assigned a unique id. What if my custom project proposal gets rejected? Project Committee evaluates each project proposal. For students whose project proposals are rejected, are required to select a project from default projects. Can I do internship/research instead of software project? No, internship or research based project is not offered to students in CS619 course. So you must complete a software application project. What is Project Reference Letter (PRL) or Internship Reference Letter (IRL) option on VULMS? PRL or IRL is related to Management and Business study programs (MBA/BBA etc). So you should ignore this option on VULMS. What is maximum limit for each project? Around 25 Students will be allowed in a particular project, this limit will not be displayed any where on VULMS or announcements page. So make sure you choose the project properly and well ahead of last date. When maximum limit will be reached for a particular project, then that project will be closed for registration and it can happen before the last date (which will be mentioned for the project selection). All requests received after the maximum limit will be rejected, after which the students can select another project within the last date of project selection (last date will be published on this page). Can I do more than one projects? No, a student is only allowed to work on a single project. Are there any video lectures, GMDBs, Handouts, Quizzes for CS619 course? There are no video lectures, GMDBs, handouts or quizzes for this course. If any of this is applied/started, it will be published on this announcements page. Important information regarding project will be available from announcements page or CS619 course section on VULMS. Learning and Test Phases for Coding/Programming? Information about learning and test phases for coding/programming will be published in CS619 announcements. What are total marks/CGPA in CS619 course? Project course CS619 contains a total of 4.0 CGPA (total marks=100) so you will be graded accordingly on successful completion of course. What if I miss any project deliverable (also called project assignment) submission on VULMS? In final project you must upload your project deliverable within due date on VULMS. If you are facing any problem in uploading, you must send it to your project supervisor via Email. If your file is large (more than 15 MBs) then you can upload it on Google Drive or Dropbox.com and then send its sharing link to your project supervisor via Email. No submission after due date will be accepted. It is important to note that if a student does not submit within due date, 0 marks will be awarded in that particular project deliverable. So make sure to submit within due date. Is there any extended day in project deliverable/assignment? There is no extended day in CS619 project deliverable/assignment. So you should not assume the practice of 24 hours extended time like other courses. Students in CS619 are therefore recommended to submit within due date. What are main sources of information in project? Email and Announcements are main sources of project related information. So you shall use these resources regularly. Any student who will ignore it will be responsible for any issues in the project. Where should I contact in case of any query/information? If it is related to a specific project, then contact at appropriate email id. Email ids for all project supervisors will be provided on this announcements page. However if it is not related to any specific project, you can contact at CS619@vu.edu.pk</div>

Project Abstract/Introduction</h4>
With rapid shift to web-based application development, most of the programmers are converting to this regime. However, writing manual code is not only the hectic job but wastes time as well. We need a Rapid Web Page Designer (RWPD) tool that could not only design web pages for us and create style sheets but also produce source code accordingly. RWPD is such an online application that lets developers design web page through visual interface. Application will also enable programmer to attach CSS styles and create the final HTML source code as well. Creating web pages, in this way will result in performance and efficiency of the web developers.

Project Functional Requirements:</h4>
 
<ul style="text-align: left;">
<li>RWPD will provide online toolbox through which user will be able to select any of the HTML tags. Note that all HTML tags (element) e.g. <Div>, , <H1>, <Img>, <TABLE> etc. will be provided in the form of tools.</li>
<li>Once a tool (html element) is dragged on the design window, the effect will be visible on design window. Selecting any element on design window should properties window. Two separate properties windows will visible. One to change the tag attributes and other to apply CSS styles.</li>
<li>User will be able to edit the attached CSS style visually e.g. size, color, font-width etc.</li>
<li>Any modification in style or tag attributes immediately applied to element and shows the effects of change on design window.</li>
<li>Options will be given to user to create in-line styles or in separate CSS file.</li>
<li>There should be option to see actual design by clicking “Show Design Output”.</li>
<li>Publishing the design will use code generated by our application and create an html file along a CSS file. If user will select inline style option then only HTML file will generated which will contain CSS properties inside each HTML tag.</li>
<li>Application will separately show the tag hierarchy i.e. the containers and contained tags in the form of tree.</li>

Manual record keeping is a time consuming job, while it is also difficult to keep books record of students and faculty as the rules for both are usually different. College Library System (CLS) is a computer base library system which keeps record of the books in the college library. The system maintains the record of students and faculties who have borrowed books from the library.

Project Functional Requirements:</h4>
A set of functional requirements of the proposed system may include the following. 
<ul style="text-align: left;">
<li>The administrator will be able to enter books information like, book Title, category, reference number etc.</li>
<li>The system will maintain record of the students who have borrowed books from the library.</li>
<li>The system will maintain record of the faculty who has borrowed books from the library.</li>
<li>The rules of books borrowing from the library are different for students and faculty members. For example, the student will pay some fine if they do not return book within the specified period while the teachers do not have such fine.</li>
<li>The system will be able to display the report of all such books which have issued to students currently.</li>
<li>The system will also be able to display the report of issued books for a specific period.</li>
<li>The system will be able to display the report of all such books which have issued to faculty members currently.</li>
<li>The system will be able to generate a report of such students who have not returned the books within its specified period and are liable for fine.</li>
<li>The time to return a book for faculty member would be an entire session (Semester or Year) while that for students is a month.</li>
<li>Students are supposed to visit the problem domain to get more functional requirements and understand the problem.</li>
</ul>

Project Abstract/Introduction</h4>
The objective of this project is to develop an online system for complaint (FIR) registration and management to facilitate the citizens as well as police department. This portal will not only save the time of citizens as well but will also help in eradicating the corrupt practices which citizens often experience in the manual FIR registration. This will be a web based application through which the police department can register the complaints of the citizens. The application will provide a user-friendly interface to the representatives to register the complaints. There will be a centralized database server where the records of all the complained registers in all the police stations will be saved. It will provide the higher authority to check the status of all complains registered in any police station along-with the other related data and to check the performance of police stations.

Project Functional Requirements:</h4>
The key user of this portal will be the police station representative (PSR) who will login to the system before registration any complaint. The account for the representative will be created by the administrator. Each registered PSR will be representing the police station and will be allowed to registered complains on behalf of that police station. A police station may have one or more representatives. The administrator will be responsible for the overall operations of the system such as users account creation/updating/deletions. The administrator which also act the database administrator to add information in to the database. This information will be required before registration of any complaint. A PSR can log in to the portal by using his login details which will be shared with him by the administrator after the account is created. The portal will provide the PSR a complaint registration interface where he/she can enter information such as the Complainant Name, Photo, CNIC, Address, Contact Number, Type of complaint and other additional details about complaint being registered. The registration interface will also have the fields to enter any available information about the accused against which the complaint is being registered such as Name of the Accused, Appearance, and Address etc. The portal will automatically generate the FIR number and add it in the registrations form include other details such as the name of the police station representative, police station name, address of the police station, the time at which the complain was registered and finally the status of the complaint (Pending, Closed). Once the complaint is registered, it will be considered as an online FIR. The portal will provide the citizens an interface where they can enter the FIR number of their CNIC to track the status of their complaint submitted. The higher ranked police officials will be able to log into the online portal to check the status of registered complaints, any actions taken on them by the respective police stations and can even issue further actions on the registered complaint. The portal will allow the officials to search the complaints by using search parameters such as Police Station, Complainant Name/CNIC, Name of the Accused Person etc. It will also help them to generate reports on the basis of searched records which will help the officials to assess the performance of any police station. The portal will also enable the citizens to lodge a complaint against the misbehavior of any specific police station. These complaints will only be viewed by the higher ranked police officials and government officials. For that purpose, the complainant will not be required to give his personal information. The details of the accused mentioned in the registered complaint will be made part of details of the offenders after the complaint is found to be true after the investigation and the action is taken place. This record will help the police department to keep the criminal history of the citizens. Please Note:</div>

These are just some of well known features of the complaint registration portal. As a part of project related activities, students are required to elicit further requirements from other sources as well. Requirement elicitation will be an important part of project evaluation.

How it Works</h3>
The menu is handled by if else statement. While adding a new record, if any node already exist then new node is connected with it otherwise a new node is created. While searching a node, a pointer searches all the pointers of linked lists to match the required data from start to end. While Modification the data part of the linked list is overwritten with new data and in case of Deletion, the pointers before and after of the node which we need to delete are connected with each other.

University Management System Project Details</h3>
Project Name: Automation of University Management System. 
 
An institute offers admissions in different disciplines. To facilitate far flung areas students, the administration decided to make an online webpage through which students can get registered online.  
Requirement: 
 
You are required to design an interactive form which will accept necessary bio data of the student and save it in database. The sample form should look like the following screen shot.

 Make some restriction or validation checks on all fields which make sure that no field can be left empty while pressing Save and Update button. The student can search, update delete a student info from the database through form interface. Hints: The student database has two tables “Std_Info” and “Std_Course” Please Note: You are required to create this database in SQL Server 2008 (or some other DBMS). Furthermore, Create a Form in VB.Net (or some other language) which Add Student information and Course Information.

Student Management System Project in C++</h3>
Dear Students, Today in <a href="http://virtualstudysolutions.blogspot.com/p/c-programming-tutorials.html">C++ Programming Tutorial</a> we will learn How to make a Student Management System Project in C++. It is a simple c++ project for beginners. To keep the project simple only basic functionalities has been added it is recommended for students first understand the project flow then add more functions like edit record (hint code also has given below) etc. Students are recommended to first add validation in this project which will not allow user to enter wrong option and then add more functions.

How it works</h3>
Each functionality has a function call in switch statement on the user choice control transfers to a function. Every function opens a file name "database" and insert, show and search data from it. File will be created where c++ file is placed in secondary storage.
