Almost all of us play multiple roles in our lives and experience one or other type of role conflict at least once because we might have taken different roles that are not compatible and conflict ensues because of this. When we have opposing obligations in different roles, it may be difficult to satisfy either responsibility in an effective way. Give an example of Role Conflict from your life and elaborate why did it happened.
Answer:
I’m the Airport Supervisor of Air Arabia Airline at Yanbu, Saudi Arabia. Due to my friendly nature, I’m liked by my staff. Staff feels easy to share any problem with me, this creates a comfortable environment for all, and makes teaching and following rules more fun and interesting.
But a week ago, I noticed that an officer of my staff is not punctual and he is not performing his work efficiently. He was my good friend as well. I warned him twice but he didn’t take that seriously. As per my duty, I discussed the problem with my manager and we came to a conclusion by firing him.
Unfortunately, since I’m a supervisor so I also have to incorporate discipline and rules at my airport. Without this, the staff will never take me seriously or hand in any of their work. In my role as a supervisor, I have to walk line between being friendly and open as well as authoritative.
LANGUAGE:
Language is the main source to communicate with each other. It plays an important role to express your feelings and thoughts. Urdu is our National Language. As per seem, Urdu get devalued in many ways in Pakistan as well as in other countries. English language is the priority of all. Nowadays, English language is efficient language to communicate with each other and get understood by most of all. Pakistanis are working hard to teach and learn the English language.
In the collaboration of china, china is the country who gives high importance to their language. Chinese are sending probably One Thousand teachers in Pakistan so that Pakistanis can learn Chinese language and can communicate better with the china. This can make a strong relationship between both countries. We have to learn Chinese, if not by heart then at least for communication, and in the greediness of getting jobs. We are already in a puzzling situation in between English and Urdu and would have to learn another language.
BELIEF:
Chinese and Pakistani cultures are outright different when it comes to religion. China has many beliefs which are utterly different with our beliefs. Our culture has strict religious values, norms and mores. By Collaborating with the China doesn’t mean of importing or exporting goods, it also a source of transferring beliefs, languages, cultures and customs.
SYMBOL:
Any figure or image used as a predictable representation of any object is known as a symbol. Every country, culture and language has their own symbols.
E.g: flag of countries, church/mosque/temple building shows the religion.
Interacting with any other country helps you to learn about the country’s civilization. By the transmission of Chinese into Pakistan, The Pakistani’s will have a great opportunity to learn the symbols of Chinese culture, as well the Chinese will Interact with Pakistan’s so they will come to know the symbolic values of Pakistan. This will create good relations among both countries.
