DeleteThe protection and advancement of the Muslim identity, rights and interests became the main concern of Jinaah. However, he changed his strategies over time for pursuing the goal.
Their major strategies were:
1. Separate electorate (1906) and the setting up of a separate political party in December 1906, the All India Muslim League, as a forum for articulating demands of the educated Muslims and presenting them to the British government.
2. The demands for constitutional safeguards and guarantees for the protection of the separate identity and interests of the Muslims.
3. From the late 1920s, the Muslim League demanded federalism with provincial autonomy for India.
4. Allama Iqbal’s presidential address to the 1930 Allahabad session of the All India Muslim League underlined the significance of Islam in the distinct political and cultural profile of the Muslims. He advocated the setting up of a distinct Muslim political authority in the Muslim majority areas of northwest India to secure their future. “Self-government within the British empire or without the British empire.”
5. Transition from a community to nationhood and the demand for a separate homeland in 1937-1947
Jinaah played a key role in pursuing these strategies and changing them over time against the backdrop of the political interaction with the British government and the Congress Party.
Answer # 2
Definition of Ideology
Ideas, visionary speculation and manner of thinking, ideas on the basis of some economic, social or political theory or system are called ideology.
Ideology of Pakistan
Pakistan is an ideological state and the ideology of Pakistan is an Islamic ideology.
Its basic principle being:
“The only sovereign is Allah”
Islam acted as a nation building force befor the establishment of Pakistan. Ideology of Pakistan basically means that Pakistan should be a state where the Muslims should have an opportunity to live according to the faith and creed based on the Islamic principles.
They should have all the resources at the disposal to enhance Islamic culture and civilization.
As Jinnah once said:
“Pakistan was created the day the first Indian national entered the field of Islam”
From the above statement, it is clear that Ideology of Pakistan is an Islamic one.
The Two Nation Concept
The fundamental concept of Ideology is that Muslims should get a separate identity.
They should have separate state where they could live according to Islamic rules and principles, profess their religion freely and safeguard Islamic tradition.
On one occasion Jinaah said:
“The Muslims demand Pakistan where they can rule in accordance with their own system of life, their cultural development, their traditions and Islamic laws”
Thus this fundamental concept of Ideology let to th concept of two nations in Sub-Continent and resulted in the formation of Pakistan.
Factors Creating the Idea of separate Home-Land
Ideology of Pakistan was created when Muslims of Indo-Pak sub-continent developed a specific mindset that they are different from Hindus. This was due to the injustices done to the Muslims by British and Hindus.
Some of the factors are:
• Anti-Muslim Campaign.
• In-acceptance of British Rule
• Hindus Betrayed Muslims
• Refusal of Muslim Identity
• Independence War of 1857
• Sir Syed Ahmed Khan’s Ideology
