ISL201 Final Term Exam Syllabus and Tips:

Today i am going to share with you ISL201 Tips and Final term Exam Syllabus. 
Almost 70% paper will be comprised on 9 to 16 lectures and 30% on 1 to 8 lectures.

Listen lectures very carefully and note down each point for the preparation of MCQs.

Note down the translation of verses which are included in handouts and video lectures.

Read handouts and write down each point for the preparation of MCQs and subjective questions of 3 and 5 marks.

You should also prepare the following type questions:
Define the given term like prayer, oneness of Allah, zakat, fast, honesty, brotherhood, universal brotherhood, society, obedience, worship, etiquettes, knowledge, information and morality etc. 

“Explain the following verse”

“Explain the following hadith”
“Give a verse or verses (translation) on the following topic” like importance of education, anger, importance of prayer or fast, truthfulness, obedience of parents, honesty, brotherhood and oneness of Allah etc.
“Give one or two hadith (translation) on the above mentioned topic”
“Translate the following verse or verses”
Note down the translation of different verse which are included in handouts.
Translation of verses and hadith is enough, Arabic text is not required.
Note: You can attempt paper of ISL201 in Urdu, English or roman Urdu (like ap ka kea haal h). But MCQs can attempt only in English.
Try to give answer in the form of points (it is depend on the nature of question). 
Most of the questions of three marks required three points and five points are required for 5 marks questions.

Paper will be comprised of MCQs and descriptive questions of 3 and 5 marks.

Assignments: 5%
Quizzes: 5%
GDB: 5%
Midterm: 35%
Final term: 50%

CS201 Some Definitions and Helping material for Viva

1. What is a program?
A program is a precise sequence of steps to solve a particular problem.

2. What is a class?
We write a C++ program using data members, and functions. We call this program “class”. 

3. What are data members?
The data members, functions and nested classes are called class members.

4. What is class layout?
The way in which data class members are arranged in a class object is called class layout.

5. What is class template?
A template is used for generating class types.

6. What is comment in Programing language?
Comments are used to explain the functioning of the programs. It helps to understand the code. C style of commenting is /*……..*/ also used in C++. And new line oriented C++ style is //………

7. What is a constructor?
A constructor initializes the data member of an object in the scope. It has no return type, and has the same name as class. We use many types of constructor by overloading them. 

Types of constructor:

  • Default constructor/compiler generated constructor 
  • Simple constructor (takes no arguments) 
  • Parameterized constructor (takes arguments) 
  • Constructor overloading 
  • Copy constructor 
8. What is destructor?
A function called when a class object goes out of scope. It cleans up the object, freeing resources like dynamic storage. The name of the destructor is the same as that of a class with preceding tilde sign (~). It could not be overloaded. It has no return type, and takes no argument.

9. Define #include?
The #include directive instructs the preprocessor to read and include a file into a source code file. The file name is typically enclosed with <…..> if the file is a system provided file, or in quotes “….” if the file is user provided.

10.For which purpose we use cout?
If we want to print something on the screen we use cout (Output stream) for this purpose.

How to Make a Assignment - Instructions

Please, follow the Given steps for making a Good Assignment.
  • Download the Assignment file from VULMS.
  • Read the instructions carefully and also check the format of file in which you have to submit the assignment. Like in ENG, MGT, PAK it is (.doc or .docx format) i.e. MS word default format. While for CS it is .html format. Make sure you are submitting the file of required format.(It may change according to the subjects better read the instructions carefully first).
  • Duplicate the assignment file by Copy, Paste. & If it is PDF file then make a new word file in .doc or .docx format or any other which is given in instruction .
  • Now open the duplicate file and edit it Or if new then make it according to the given steps.
  • While Editing first remove the Instruction from the top.
  • Now on Top add heading e.g. if it is English Assignment then write (ENG101 Fall 2016 Assignment 2 or CS101 Fall 2016 Assignment 2).
  • After adding the heading go down and on right or Left corner write your student ID followed by Date on other corner.
  • After completing all these steps now answer each question respectively. Write the answers under the Questions and make the questions bold so they can be easily recognized.
  • After completing the assignment Save It and rename it to your subject and assignment no. along with student ID. Like: ( ENG101 Assignment 1 Fall 2016 (BCxxxxxx).
  • Check it twice thrice after completion for any errors or corrections.
  • After checking if you are confident that it is correct submit it on VULMS. And Try to complete and submit it before due date. Because after due date no assignment will be accepted.
  • Before submitting make sure that file is not corrupted and is 100% zoomed. 
  • For submitting go to the Assignment section of the subject. Click on Submit, browse and upload the file.
  • After your assignment is submitted it will show a message to you that your assignment/file has been submitted successfully. If not it will show an error that your file has not been submitted, In this case try submitting again.
  • Deadlines for submission must be strictly Noticed. Late assignments are not accepted since the Virtual University already makes an allowance for infrastructure problems such as power loss etc.

How to Insert Math Equations in GDB

  1. To insert math equations in GDB answer, following are the guidelines:- 1. User must install Math Type software to generate the various math equations. 2. Launch the Math Type and go to the Preferences Tab in menu bar and click on “Cut and Copy Preferences” and match the settings as per given below screenshot and click “Ok”.
  2. Note: In previous versions of Math Type, go to Preferences Tab in menu bar and click on “Translators” and match the settings as per given below screenshot and click “Ok”

VU Course Selection - Rules and Procedure

Virtual University pf Pakistan (VU) Course Selection Open for Existing Students. It is a Announcement for Virtual University Students of Fall 2016 Semester Course Selection.

VU Course Selection Rules:

  • Students enrolled in the first semester of their study programme are given pre-selected courses; all other students may select their own courses subject to their scheme of studies and the limitations prescribed in the rules below.
  • The credit hour limits are as below:
  1. For the first and second semesters a maximum of 18 credit hours are allowed
  2. For the third semester a maximum of 21 credit hours are allowed
  3. For the fourth and any extra subsequent semesters a maximum of 21 credit hours are allowed; however, if the degree programme would be completed in that semester, a maximum of 27 credit hours are allowed.
  • Students taking less than the course load prescribed by their scheme of studies will require extra semesters to complete the curriculum; in such cases they will also have to bear the additional cost.
  • During a study program, students may attempt to improve a ‘D’ grade course only once.

  1. In order to select your courses, follow the steps below:
  2. From within the LMS, click the Student Services button
  3. Click on the Course Selection link
  4. Give preference to ‘F’ grade course(s) and the improvement of ‘D’ grades where possible
  5. Click the check boxes to select courses
  6. Save the selection
  7. You may make changes in course selection any number of times before the last date to add, drop or replace course(s).

Improvement of ‘D’ Grade Papers:

  1. In any of the subsequent semesters a student may repeat once, those courses of the previous semester(s) in which he/she had secured the lowest grade i.e. “D” only. However, a student is not allowed to improve ‘D’ grade of a deficiency course qualified.
  2. Any improved grade will substitute “F” and “D” grades of the previous Semester for calculating CGPA but “F” and “D” grades will form part of the transcript.
